I am an artist, photographer and poet. You will  usually see me walking the coast of Maine with my Husky, Aurora, taking pictures and just enjoying the outdoors. My work has been recognized both nationally and internationally. I believe that everyone has the talent within them to get enjoyment out of being creative - I am proof of that! - and would love to encourage others to try to tap what’s inside. My goal is to have people look at my work and feel the place and its smells and colors as though they were standing there.
I also started drawing and painting with pastels last summer and found I really enjoyed it and have been drawing and painting ever since, using my photographs as a guide.  In addition, I’ve been studying the paintings at the different museums and galleries around Maine and learning new things from everyone I meet.
On a more personal note, I have had Multiple Sclerosis for over 24 years and can appreciate the challenges of dealing with health issues, employment, and access issues among other things.  I was diagnosed in March, 2001 and lost my job the next month - it was a dark time. Fortunately, I was able to find another job, at which point I made the decision with my wife to live life to the fullest every day. (I also started practicing Tai Chi, which really helped with the illness, and am now a Tai Chi Master!)
I would not say that having this illness is a gift - I hate when people say that - but it has forced me to always focus on the beautiful things in life. Now I have the time to share those things through my artwork. I hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I enjoy creating it!
